Data Analytics is rapidly becoming a core skill set within internal audit functions and has been cited by the Institute as not-negotiable for a modern IA function. In February, the Institute launched a Data Analytics Working Group in response to a number of requests from participants in our regular Heads Of Internal Audit Virtual Forum.
The working group is facilitated by the Institute but shaped and driven by a small core group of members. Developing the scope of the group involved seeking feedback from over 80 IA functions and from this discussion we shaped our approach within seven categories as shown below.
The aspiration of the group is simple, to support enhancement in DA capability across all participating organisations. To do so, we have adopted a collaborative model asking members who join the group to be prepared to share their experiences for the benefit of all involved. There has been considerable interest in the group and to date, over 100 IA functions, including several HE functions, have now actively engaged with over 130 individuals joining a Teams Group which has been set up to provide an informal communication and collaboration space for participants.
If you wish for more information on the Data Analytics Working Group please contact Derek Jamieson, Director of Regions at the Institute derek.jamieson@iia.org.uk or visit the Institute’s website.
